Career in Architectural Engineering - At first, the primary responsibility of an architectural engineer focused on the engineering aspects of a building. Entry-level architectural engineering jobs require a minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BSc). This degree takes most students four years to complete if they are able to devote themselves to full-time study. A Bachelor of Science degree in this discipline is more focused on coursework and at least part of the general requirements for a career in architectural engineering. Career in Professional Architect -The two primary responsibilities of an architect are the design of buildings and the ongoing management of highly detailed construction projects. The educational requirements in this role are higher than those for architectural engineering jobs. Although a Bachelor of Science in Architecture is the minimum requirement, most employers prefer those who have completed a master's degree. In the US, colleges offering architecture programs give students the option of enrolling in a five-year Bachelor of Architecture with an intensive focus on design, technology, and architectural history. After completing all college requirements, students are eligible to take the Architect Registration Exam to become licensed as a professional architect. While there are many degree options, architecture students should expect to take the following coursework at the bachelor's degree level - computer-aided design of architecture, construction methods, green building design, history of architecture, project management.

To apply for a Master of Architecture program, prospective students must have a pre-professional degree in architectural studies or architecture.
