आईआरसीसी विदेशी छात्रों के लिए बदलाव लागू (IRCC changes implemented for foreign students)

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has already announced that it will begin implementing changes for foreign students starting January 1, 2024. Updates are mentioned.

Foreign Students Update: From January 1, IRCC started implementing changes for foreign students. The first thing was the increase in the cost of requirement for international students as mentioned by IRCC on 7 December 2023. Previously, students only needed $10,000 but now, have to show $20,635 for a single study permit application.

The increase in cost of living necessities was significant as is the recent increase in inflation. Furthermore, students coming to Canada were not always financially prepared, the reason being that the cost of living was low and has not been updated since the 2000s. DLI LOA Verification:- Another change that IRCC started implementing from the beginning of 2024 was the verification of Letter of Acceptance (LOA) by the Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

Earlier cases of fraudulent LOAs submitted by international students prompted the Canadian government to take action. Any foreign student submits LOA along with student visa application, DLI will verify that LOA from an online portal, IRCC has launched online portal for this. DLIs are the only educational institutions in Canada that are allowed to accept international students.

IRCC will extend the policy of allowing international students to work more than 20 hours a week. Foreign students can pursue more part-time jobs in Canada. Additionally, IRCC will review the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program.
