कई बार जीभ की गांठों को प्रोटीन धारीदार बनाता है. इसके चलते ऐसा महसूस है कि बाल जैसी बेहद बारीक कोई चीज जीभ पर चिपक गई हो. असल में धारीदार बारीक गांठ होती है, जो देखने में सफेद, भूरे या काले रंग जैसी लगती है. इस धारी में बैक्टीरिया के फंसने का खतरा है. इस रेशे को देख सेहत की खराबी का अंदाजा लगाते हैं.

एक्सपर्ट मुताबिक अगर जीभ का रंग काला नजर आए तो इसकी वजह आयरन की गोली ज्यादा खाना होता है. कई बार फंगस इंफेक्शन या बैक्टीरिया पनपने से भी जीभ पर काला धब्बा बनता है. अगर डॉक्टर को जीभ पर ऐसा संकेत है तो डॉक्टर हिसाब से इलाज शुरू करते हैं.

किसी व्यक्ति को बुखार या इंफेक्शन हो तो जीभ का रंग लाल होता है. शरीर में विटामिन बी-12 की कमी से भी जीभ  का रंग बदलकर लाल होता है. डॉक्टर जीभ पर इस संकेत को देखकर बीमारी में समझते हैं और उसी के हिसाब से ट्रीटमेंट शुरू करते हैं.
