देश में पेट्रोल-डीजल के दाम पिछले कई महीनों से 100 रुपये प्रति लीटर से ऊपर चल रहे हैं. एक्सपर्टों का कहना है कि पेट्रोल-डीजल के जो दाम बढ़ चुके हैं, वे कम होने वाले नहीं हैं. महंगाई से कार चलाने वाले लाखों का बजट बिगड़ चुका है. हम ईंधन की बचत के ऐसे टिप्स बता रहे हैं, जिन्हें आजमाकर हर महीने 20 प्रतिशत तक बचत कर सकते हैं.

ईंधन की बचत के लिए कार को धीमी स्पीड में आगे बढ़ाएं और फिर गियर बदलकर टॉप गियर में ले जाएं. पहले गियर में डालकर एकदम से तेज स्पीड पर ईंधन तेजी से खर्च है. साथ ही गाड़ी के कलपुर्जे भी तेजी से घिसने लगते हैं, जिससे जल्दी-जल्दी मरम्मत की नौबत आती है.

गाड़ी चलाते हुए अनावश्यक ब्रेक लगाने से बचें. रास्ते में कार के स्टॉप या स्पीड ब्रेकर का अनुमान लगाकर पहले से गाड़ी की स्पीड धीमी करें. अगर रेड लाइट पर 50 सेकंड से ज्यादा देर तक रुकना है तो उसे स्विच ऑफ कर दें. ऐसा से रोज 20 प्रतिशत तक के ईंधन की बचत करगे.

कई लोग ईंधन बचाने के लिए तेज स्पीड में गाड़ी चलाने को मूलमंत्र मानते हैं लेकिन यह तरीका ठीक नहीं है. इससे गाड़ी का ईंधन तेजी से जलता है. कार को 45km/h और 75km/h के बीच ड्राइविंग करें. इस स्पीड पर गाड़ी चलाने से ईंधन की खपत सबसे कम है और कार पर नियंत्रण बनता है.

अगर बाहर का मौसम अच्छा है तो बेहतर रहेगा कि कार के एसी का इस्तेमाल न करें. इससे 4 प्रतिशत तक ईंधन की बचत है. साथ ही फ्रेश एयर कार में आने से आरामदायक तरीके से यात्रा कर पाएंगे. साथ कार के पहियों के हवा का प्रेशर भी नियमित रूप से चेक करवाते रहें. ऐसा से गाड़ी पर अनावश्यक दबाव हटता है और माइलेज मिलती है.
