Google has banned four new apps on the Play Store for spreading malicious content on Android devices. Google Play Store is a highly secure store that promises to scan apps and provide a secure experience of downloading the latest apps. However, hackers find a loophole or a way to embed malicious code in the apps, and users who download them get hurt. Google was recently notified of similar malicious apps and had to remove them.

All the four apps belong to the same developer and spread malicious content cleverly. After searching, the website of the developer, which is called Mobile Apps Group, was inaccessible. The developer has published the following apps on the Google Play Store and is installed on any Android phone, so they need to be removed.

- Bluetooth App Sender

- Mobile transfer: smart switch

- Driver: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB

Apps cleverly worked to evade security checks on Android devices. Once installed, malicious activities were delayed to avoid security checks. For a few days the apps started working fine. However, within a few days, these apps trickle in and spam as well as phishing starts on the victim's device.

Malwarebytes reports that the malicious app opens phishing sites in Google Chrome. The content of 'phishing sites varies' in the report – some are harmless sites that are simply used to generate pay-per-click, and others are more dangerous phishing sites that attempt to defraud unsuspecting users. For example, a site has adult content that leads to a phishing page that tells users they are infected, or need an update.

The user's browser history will also be a long list of bad phishing sites.
