भारत में कार मेकर डीजल गाड़ियों से तौबा करने लगी हैं. मारुति सुजुकी, वोक्सवैगन, स्कोडा, निसान और रेनॉल्ट जैसी कंपनियां पहले  डीजल गाड़ियों का प्रोडक्शन बंद हैं. होंडा में शामिल है. होंडा भारत में डीजल गाड़ियों को बंद करती है. एक ऑनलाइन मीडिया पब्लिकेशन से, होंडा कार्स इंडिया के प्रेसिडेंट और सीईओ, ने खुलासा है कि कंपनी डीजल इंजन के बारे में ज्यादा नहीं सोच रही है क्योंकि इंजन के साथ रियल ड्राइविंग एमिशन से पार पाना मुश्किल है. कार निर्माताओं ने यूरोपीय बाजार में डीजल पावरट्रेन को बंद है.
