The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade is a central government department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in India.
यह राष्ट्रीय प्राथमिकताओं और सामाजिक-आर्थिक उद्देश्यों को ध्यान में रखते हुए, औद्योगिक क्षेत्र के विकास के लिए प्रचार और विकासात्मक उपायों के निर्माण और कार्यान्वयन के लिए जिम्मेदार है।
It is responsible for formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of the industrial sector, keeping in view the national priorities and socio-economic objectives.

While individual administrative ministries look after the production, distribution, development and planning aspects of specific industries allocated to them, DPIIT is responsible for the overall industrial policy. It is also responsible for facilitating and increasing the foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to the country.
विभाग अपने वर्तमान स्वरूप में 27 जनवरी 2019 को अस्तित्व में आया, जब आंतरिक व्यापार को इसके अधिदेश में जोड़ने के बाद, तत्कालीन औद्योगिक नीति और संवर्धन विभाग का नाम बदलकर उद्योग और आंतरिक व्यापार संवर्धन विभाग (DPIIT) कर दिया गया।
The Department in its current form came into being on 27 January 2019, when the erstwhile Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion was renamed to Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) after internal trade was added to its mandate.

The Department was originally established in 1995, and was reconstituted in the year 2000 with the merger of Department of Industrial Development.
DPIIT भारत में संयुक्त राष्ट्र औद्योगिक विकास संगठन के साथ कार्यक्रमों के समन्वय और कार्यान्वयन के लिए भारत सरकार में नोडल विभाग है। विभाग शीर्ष उद्योग संघों जैसे फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडियन चैंबर्स ऑफ कॉमर्स एंड इंडस्ट्री, भारतीय उद्योग परिसंघ, एसोचैम के साथ औद्योगिक सहयोग को बढ़ावा देने और भारत में एफडीआई को प्रोत्साहित करने से संबंधित उनकी गतिविधियों में समन्वय करता है।
DPIIT is the nodal Department in Government of India for coordinating and implementing programmes with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in India. The Department also coordinates with apex Industry Associations such as Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Indian Industry, ASSOCHAM in their activities relating to promotion of industrial cooperation and to stimulate FDI into India.
